Service - TIM configuration

All TIM data are entered and displayed in the TIM Configuration window. The TIM (Transmission Identification Module) is a storage module that is installed in the transmission and not in the transmission controller. It is the electronic nameplate of a DIWA transmission and contains information on the transmission design. TIM data is essential for the correct functioning of the transmission software. TIM data is entered when the transmission is manufactured and must never be changed, except for transmission conversions.

Valid platforms:

  • DIWA.5 via E300.1
  • DIWA.6 via KWP
  • DIWAhybrid E300.1

How to open the TIM configuration

The TIM configuration is accessed via the Service group in the main window. Then select the TIM configuration button in the Service menu.

Reporting

The TIM configuration is offered depending on the connected ECU. The TIM configuration is not available without communication.

Reporting

The display changes automatically after you have started the communication.

Carrying out a TIM configuration

ALADIN reads the current TIM configuration automatically when opening the TIM configuration. The individual TIM entries can then be edited. The new TIM data are written to the TIM using the "Write to TIM" button.

Please note that ALADIN has no direct access to the TIM. The writing process runs via the transmission controller. This also checks whether your configuration is plausible. If not, the writing process is stopped by the transmission controller.

You need "Write to ECU" if the TIM is not present or faulty. In this way you can write the TIM configuration directly to the transmission controller.
Do not use this function if a TIM is connected. At each "ignition on", the transmission controller reads the configuration from the TIM. Your change in the transmission controller would be overwritten by the configuration from the TIM.

During the writing process, ALADIN will start the communication several times and carry out a software reset on the controller. The individual steps are displayed in the "Message Ticker" with a blue border.

Reporting

Special case - Repair of a faulty TIM. If you install a new TIM and a "TIM fault" is entered in the fault memory, the transmission controller does not read the data from the TIM at "ignition on".
The "Write to TIM" function is terminated with a fault message.
Then delete the fault memory and switch the vehicle ignition off and back on again. You can then check the TIM configuration.
